*Sigh*
It is upon us already.
April Fools Day. The hands-down stupidest day on the internet.
Sure, there are places that do it right. Google always does a good job of making something that is fun, interesting and the right kind of weird.
ThinkGeek has epic products that quite frequently become “real” products thanks to the free market research the site gets on this day.
Other than that? The jokes are crummy and unfunny.
Your most-anticipated movie is being delayed or canceled? Har har.
Something political made a surprise turn? Bwahaha.
You favorite store chain is closing for no reason? Hilarious.
I like hoaxes. I like jokes. Most of this garbage is neither.
If you are going to do something for April Fools Day, do something epic. Something that will be remembered.
Hoaxes.org has a nice list of the Top 100 April Fools Day Hoaxes. Here is a link to the top 10. I think my favorite was when Taco Bell took out a full page ad in 6 newspapers announcing they had purchased the Liberty Bell and would be renaming it the Taco Liberty Bell.
I challenge you, internet. Do something epic.
I suppose you have a better thought on the subject?
